We are Independent Insurance Brokers appointed with all the major health insurance companies in Virginia. We are also certified web brokers with The Virginia Insurance Marketplace. These appointments and certifications allow us to help solve problems that come up way quicker and easier than you could on your own. We’ve been doing this since they first rolled out the Affordable Care Act and healthcare.gov was a big mess. For the past 10 years we have helped thousands of people navigate their health insurance options. We go above and beyond to help our clients understand their options and make the process of purchasing and using health insurance easier.
OPEN ENROLLMENT is the period of time where you can update your information with the Marketplace and shop for a health insurance plan for next year. Open Enrollment usually lasts from November 1 until January 15th.
Our services are free to our clients. When we go through your Marketplace application we are listed as your agent of record. This information gets sent to the insurance company and then every month that you pay your bill we get a little commission. (It’s around $20/month.). The cool thing is that it doesn’t effect your rate at all. You pay the same rate wether you use our help or not. Since we are appointed with all of the companies you don’t need to worry about us pushing you in one direction or another. We like to think that we work for you!
You may have been referred to us by someone who told you we charge a fee. A few years ago we had some issues with the commissions. During that time we had to get consulting licenses and charged a fee for our services. It really stunk- we don’t like charging you money! Thankfully the insurance companies are paying us now so we have been able to do away with the fee. Woohoo!
Our appointment will be over the phone. We will call you at the scheduled time. We will start by going over your current health insurance (or lack of.). We will ask you questions about your household size, income, and employer coverage to determine if you might qualify for a tax credit to help lower the price of your health insurance. If you do, we will take you through the application. We will then go over your eligibility results and look at all of your plan options. We will discuss any concerns or questions you have about picking a plan such as medications you take, providers you like, upcoming medical procedures, etc. After a bit of narrowing down we will send you an email with plan comparisons. We will go over them until you decide on a plan. We can then enroll you in the plan and even set up your first month and re-occurring payments. Usually we will complete everything during the appointment. We will discuss any actions that need to be taken after the appointment and schedule a time to follow up if needed.

If you ever have an issue with the Marketplace or your insurance company we can usually figure it out and solve it for you way easier than you could on your own. If you are losing coverage or experiencing another life change you may be eligible for a Special Enrollment Period that will allow you to jump onto a new plan mid-year.
